Cheddar Festive Night
The Cheddar Festive night is on Friday 2nd December. Meet trustees of the Cheddar Youth Trust in the Riverside Inn car park and enter the trust’s Festive Quiz to have a chance of winning £25! There are 2nd and 3rd prizes of bottles of wine. Prizes kindly donated by Annagram Team Estate & Letting Agents.

£1000 raised in a night
Thanks to all involved in making the “when WE were young” evening at Cheddar Church House on Friday 7th October 2011 a great success!. Over £1000 was raised on the night and a good time was had by all.

The Cheddar Youth Trust presents “when WE were young”, comprising a two course meal & entertainment including Cheddar Valley Voices and nostalgic readings from favourite children’s stories. Riverside Inn quiz night raises £283!
A quiz night hosted by local quiz ace Mike Conroy at The Riverside Inn on 17th May raised £283, 42 quizzers attended at £5 per head and raffle raised £73!

Regular CYT supporter, Anne Langford, decided to donate the proceeds from the sale of three decorations from above her fireplace to the trust. Anne had them auctioned on TV's "Flog It" and raised £100!

Much valued support from local business people
For the second year running the Riverside Business Group have made the CYT their chosen charity. CYT chairman Keith Herring was pleased to receive a cheque for £552.80 from Riverside Inn landlord Huw Davies. £500 was from the business group members, who each donate £1 from their weekly group subs, plus a generous and unexpected £52.80 from Riverside supplier InbevUK.

Grant applications now twice yearly
The Cheddar Youth Trust Trustees have decided to have two rounds of grant applications per year closing on April 30th and October 31st. This should make the trust’s support more accessible to the young people of Cheddar.

Cheddar Male Choir Concert success!
The Cheddar Male Choir supported by Kings of Wessex School pupils provided superb entertainment. With over 150 people present, all having a delightful and very enjoyable evening and raising money for the trust.

The People’s Picnic raises nearly £650.00.
There is simply not enough room here to acknowledge all those that set out chairs, manned stalls and, last though no means least, provided superb entertainment. However we do have to thank the people of Cheddar who turned up and supported the trust. The weather held and a good time was had by all!

TV comedian and local celebrity, Richard Herring hosted a Promises Auction in aid of Cheddar Youth Trust on Friday November 20th 2009 at Church House, Cheddar. A full house enjoyed an evening of wit, humour and good food plus the opportunity to bag a bargain or two.

15 young Cheddar people receive grants
These include Cora Marks who travelled to China and Hannah Bates to Uganda to do charity work, Steven Lukins, who is going to Cambridge University to read mathematics, Daniel Salway who has a scholarship to Team Bath where he is studying for a BETEC National Certificate/Diploma in Sport and Joe Barnes who is taking his extensive windsurfing skills to a higher level and competing with the worlds best.

Coffee morning raises over £160!
Trustees Jennie Colton and Alan Rayfield exhibited entrepreneurial spirit in raising £164 in aid of the trust via a coffee morning on Saturday 25th July. Held in Alan’s lovely garden, coffee, tea and slices of homemade cake were sold and a raffle was held. A most enjoyable morning by all accounts!

CYT attends Cheddar Youth Sports Festival.
The Cheddar Youth Trust was present at the inaugural Cheddar Youth Sports Festival held at Sharpham Road fields on Sunday 12th July. The day commenced with a nail biting win for the Cheddar U17 cricket team over local rivals Winscombe. Despite threatening to rain it stayed dry and a sizable crowd enjoyed the opportunity to learn more about the wide variety of sporting activities that are on offer to the people of Cheddar.

Quiz master Mike Conroy and The Riverside Inn put on a great evening, the turnout was even better than expected, a good time was had by all and a substantial amount was raised for the trust!
